My answer ie Edward Ringwood Hewitt. Just wanted to get the jump on the competition! :x

Tom
This "second chance" trivia is going to be interesting---There's 5 questions I've already crafted them. All pertain to the theme: Neversink River. As mentioned, it seems past contests have shown that someone gets the correct answer(s) within seconds after I've posted. As was true in the "first round" just completed, and won by Theroe. And I thought that question was tough!

So I've upped the challenge: If someone gets all 5 questions correct within seconds, I'll be truly impressed! :)

(And Tom....just to answer your jump answer---you are incorrect    )

Questions will be posted tomorrow, Thursday, at 6:00AM

Perhaps, Mike, after the boyz get the correct 5 answers in 10 seconds, we could craft a question around the Battenkill, on which I will recuse myself. Then perhaps you might have a few minutes, or even an hour before you had to give out more books!

By the way Boyz, we are meeting at the Springhole 1/1/20 at 2pm for opening day. All are invited!

Here are the questions....

-Deadline for answering all 5 is Monday December 22
-Post answers here, not PM
-First one to answer all 5 wins the two books, to be shipped once my small number of "author copies" arrives--usually a month or so after release date. I cover all domestic postage.

-If there are no winners, I will give a copy of both books to a TU chapter, library, or other non profit.

1). He hooked the big Neversink trout---an “Aunt Sally”--- more than once under that dead, fallen tree only to lose it. Who was the angler, what was the name of the pool

2). The pattern that Gordon fished on the Neversink was tied using light brown fur from a weasel or mink for its body. He found it particularly effective during the summer months. What was the name of the fly?

3). Arnold Gingrich was a member of the Big Bend Club on the Neversink. In the summer of what year did he become a member?

4). An angling author once wrote about “Uncle John. “Uncle John” was known for fishing with three wet flies all at once, over on the Neversink. Just before he died--at a ripe old age-- he switched to fishing with only a single dry fly, reporting that such a method had “interesting possibilities.”
What was Uncle John’s last name?

5).In the 1940's, Ed Hewitt wrote a letter lamenting the fact that someone broke into his ponds and stole thousands of fish—both trout and salmon . He said it became obvious he could no longer afford to stock his Neversink waters, due to such thievery. Who did Hewitt address the letter to?

What...no instant winner, within a few seconds of posting the questions   Too hard this time
Hint: The Neversink is a river in the Catskills

Only thing I can figure why no winner yet:
Upstatetrout is still on speed dial with VanPut---asking for the answers
Epeorus is trying to figure out exactly where the Neversink is located
Theroe is waiting for bearbutt---to provide him with the answers
Squish67 has given up--- :)

....and the rest of SGM members don't give a hoot.....

I have two correct answers guaranteed... but been busy, and thought your deadline of Dec. 22nd was a date I could work towards--- still several days away... I didn't realize you'd be antsy yourself and busting SGM chops....

Just saying.... :)
