OLD rumpled/twisted black bare hair

Post by BoatDog » Tue May 21, 2019 8:52 pm

Is the a way to remove twisting and curling in old hair, bear in this case? Should it just be thrown out?
I also have some small pieces of polar bear from before WWII. Same issue.
Thanks,
BD

How about washing in a mild shampoo and drying with a hair dryer keeping the airflow in a constant direction to “set” the hair.

you can also soak it in warm water first, then the shampoo then if it's really brittle it is soak in an solution of water and glycerin.

Hi All,
Suggestions on soaking, shampooing and hairdryer sound reasonable. Maybe some of my wife's hair conditioner would help. :D

Don’t throw it out!
Either use it for spinner wings or, chop it up and use it in dubbing mixes as a substitute for Antron.....
I don’t know why I missed this earlier-
