Hello, I also wrote to Joe but did not get a reply. It seems like this WileyCed is on all of the sites here on SGM. Bill the mailman

BB, I agree with you... this is a great fly-fishing bulletin board, with a very nice exchange of Catskill/fly-fishing info from all over the world....

Shut down new member registration; this issue of trolls is not unique to this board... my wife and I get SEVERAL phone calls each day that are bogus, looking to screw us... enough is enough....

Let's talk about things of interest to all of valid members...

Here are a few Catskill trout recently caught... an 18" Neversink tailwater brown today, and headwater brook trout the last few days....

Nice fish, Ed!

Did you coax that brown into taking a dry? If so, even better. I've had more luck getting those bigger fish to go for nymphs.

Here's one from the Beaverkill last week, when we had a couple of cool mornings.

another alternative is to not allow new registrations to make a post for 30-days.
that might test a spammer's attention span just enough to solve the problem?

definitely would hate to see potential new users locked-out from the group, entirely.

We have tried a few things... one was less then effective.
Dan I going to give it another go. I think we are also going to work on user automated reporting system to catch issues before they become bigger.

I think I've cleaned out most of the spammer accounts, so at least the current users can go back to normal.

I've disabled new user registration until we can improve the spam filtering. It looks like a few weeks ago they figured out a way around the plugins that had been working good for the past few years.

Yes... thanks for the cleanup.... :D

... and no Joe, I caught the brown on a small #10 Black Leech streamer, a favorite pattern of mine... in fact, I caught several browns 17"+ on that pattern in recent trips... ;)
