Little Rainbow Trout Streamer

Hi, this is my first post on this site... I would like some help tying thel "Little Bow" streamer..... I tyed one from a pic and it looked like hell..I am having problems with the wing mostly, it calls for pink, green, white, bucktail and an over lay of squirrel tail,.... How much, how long, etc. Thanks for any help you can give...Matt

that is sounds like one of sam slaymaker's trout fry series form about he 1950-60's.

they were typically tied upon 6x long streamer hooks and were dressed rather sparsly. it is very difficult to say what is sparse but you're talking about 7 to 10 fibers of each color bucktail and slightly more of the squirrel tail.

the wing's length is about 1/2 gap past the bend.

Here you are:

Little Rainbow Trout Bucktail

Body: Pinkish white Fur.

Tail: A small bunch of green bucktail slightly longer than the gap of the hook.

Ribbing: Narrow Flat Silver Tinsel.

Throat: A very small bunch of pink bucktail, as long as the tail.

Wings: Of four very small seperated bunches of hair, each extending beyond the tail. A very small bunch of white bucktail over which is a very small bunch of pink bucktail, slightly blended. Over this is a very small bunch of green bucktail, topped and slightly blended with a very small bunch of natural badger hair.

Cheeks: Jungle Cock.

Head: Black.
