The Brook Trout Hole:
Winter is...
Re: Winter is...
Good luck and Happy Thanksgiving.
Re: Winter is...
Ed, That looks like my brothers in NYS. He has a 500 acre farm with a stream like that running through it. It’s all private so no body fishes the stream. It has a lot of brook trout in it. Some places it’s only 3 feet wide and in others about 6 or 7 feet wide.It goes down through a small valley into a good size pool or maybe call it a pond(which is ice cold in the summer time) down through some woods and then after about a mile into a larger stream. Then into Afton,NY into the big river. The brookies are about 5to 7inches long. Bill the mailman
Re: Winter is...
Yikes Bill... could that have been your brother who was chasing and shooting at me, while I was poaching here!!!

The brook trout in this spot can to be smallish, 4" to 6"... occasionally a monster of 8"... and those bigger trout tend to be colorful, dark, and sometimes have small kypes...
