Black body and hackle , mallard flank wing

Post by shakey »

Can anyone tell me the name of this fly?

Black thread or floss body
Gold or silver tinsel or wire rib
Mallard flank wing
Black hackle .

Like a luzerne,except black with a rib.

It has been productive for me, but, I don’t even know what it is .

No tail,no tag.
Wing tied in a bunch, like a sparse hair wing , not folded or rolled

Sorry to Hijack a little but this post had me think of this fly that intrigued me ... I took this out of the mouth of mouth of a good sized brown a while back on thee Brodheads. Never seen anything like this pattern before or since. Sort of black muddler with silver tinsel. Beatifully tied..siz e 12 silver hook?

Interesting – very early this year on the Broadhead, I met a fellow that fished exclusively muddlers. And he had black ones very similar to that make and model. I did discuss the forum with him, and asked him to become a member. Maybe he will see this post and chime in??
